The Glue Caddy That Outlasted the Drawer

Craft caddy with glue and paper on a kitchen counter

Through 2021 the craft drawer was a graveyard of dried glue sticks and marker caps with no markers. I moved the living supplies into one caddy on the kitchen counter and tossed the rest. Kids could reach it. I could see the empty slots before we ran out mid-project.

A visible caddy beats a deep drawer when you are trying to keep Sunday afternoon from exploding across the table. It also makes a kitchen reset faster: lift the caddy, wipe the counter, set it back. That is the same motion I use after packing boxes or after a cleaner has been through.

If your craft stuff travels between houses, pack the caddy as one unit. Do not loose-bag glitter. A closed kit survives a van ride and does not undo the room you just organized.

Hi. My name is Mandi and I’m an organizing junkie. I’m also a wife, and Momma to four little girls (5, 3.5, 2 and a new baby!). I've worked at home since our oldest was a baby, and like a lot of other moms, my life is a constant balancing act of caring for my family and my home, meeting my obligations and finding time for hobbies in there somewhere. Oh, yeah, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m somewhat of a kitchen dunce and I only like to pretend that I’m crafty. Read more here!
