Hi. My name is Mandi and I’m an organizing junkie.
:Hi Mandi!:
I’m also a wife, and Momma to four little girls (5, 3.5, 2 and a new baby!). I’ve worked at home since our oldest was a baby, and like a lot of other moms, my life is a constant balancing act of caring for my family and my home, meeting my obligations and finding time for hobbies in there somewhere. Oh, yeah, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m somewhat of a kitchen dunce and I only like to pretend that I’m crafty.
I’ve always been a bit on the, ahem, high-strung side. I like things the way I like them. I like things to be in their place. I like to do things my way. I’m a firstborn, type-A personality by any measure and somewhat of a perfectionist.
However, what I’ve realized is that my needs and preferences change constantly as our family grows and changes. What worked a year ago just doesn’t always work now, and I’m almost always reorganizing some area of my home or my life.
I know that not everyone enjoys organizing to the degree I do and many people struggle to find a system that works for them. Whether it be FlyLady, The Clutter Diet or some other organizational method, I’m convinced that it will only work for you if you tweak it to meet your needs and preferences.
Here at Organizing Your Way, we’ll be looking at a different Weekly Hot Spot and the various methods and systems for organizing that area of your life. I’ll share what I consider to be the pros and cons of each, and I’ll show you how *I* organize that area as well. Then, it’s your turn to figure out which pieces from each system appeal to you so that you can create your own system, one you’ll be able to stick with for the long haul.
I’ll also be sharing Time Management methods, Quick Tips, Frugal Organization ideas and Product Reviews as we go.
Whether you’re looking to do a complete overhaul or just clean up a few troublesome areas, you’ll find it all here at Organizing Your Way.
I still write from the same conviction: a system only lasts when it matches the house you actually live in. If a binder, a caddy, or a Sunday reset fights your energy, we tweak it. The goal is a room you can reset after guests, after a move, or after a messy craft afternoon without starting from zero.
When readers ask what to do after the donate bags leave, I talk about wiping the empty shelf and making the entry honest again. Organizing and a proper clean are teammates. One decides what stays. The other lets the new layout breathe.
