Toy Packaging: To Keep or Not To Keep?

Do you keep the packaging that your toys come in? This is an issue I struggle with every Christmas and every birthday. The minimalist part of me wants to get them out of my house as soon as possible, but I’ve had this backfire on more than one occasion.

If you keep the packaging, do you have a system for storing it, or do you just toss it into an unused area of your home?

How long do you keep toy packaging?

If you don’t keep packaging, what do you do if you need to return or exchange a defective item?

  1. No way! I toss it! I can’t stand the clutter it turns into. Knock on wood…we haven’t had a defective toy yet :)

  2. I do both – keep and toss. When I keep the packaging I generally keep it for about a week (in our garage usually!), and then toss it.
