Just wanted to let you know that you just might have a dual core processor in that new notebook of yours. My wife readsthis blog and she alerted me to your post concerning the Acer 5517. I also own the same model and mine came with a dual-core AMD Athlon 64-bit processor. That explains why it seems so “snappy” compared to your old machine. Like you, I am well pleased with my unit as well as with Windows 7. That was one difference that I noted. When I bought my Acer Aspire 12 days ago it came with Windows 7 already installed.

I was able to get the Windows 7 from Houseparty and I love it! I have been working with it for about a month now and know that there is still so much to be discovered about it. One feature I really like with it is the drag and drop screens. If you need to toggle back and forth between 2 open windows, you can drag one to the left, the other to the right and they snap into place allowing you to work off of both at the same time. VERY COOL!
