As we finish up our series on Summer Schedules and Stress-Free Vacation Planning, I’d love to hear from you:

What is the biggest challenge to your summer schedule?

Is it simply having the kids out of school and without a regular routine?

Is it all the extra activities and events?

Is it going on vacation and then trying to settle back into your regular routine?

Hi. My name is Mandi and I’m an organizing junkie. I’m also a wife, and Momma to four little girls (5, 3.5, 2 and a new baby!). I've worked at home since our oldest was a baby, and like a lot of other moms, my life is a constant balancing act of caring for my family and my home, meeting my obligations and finding time for hobbies in there somewhere. Oh, yeah, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m somewhat of a kitchen dunce and I only like to pretend that I’m crafty. Read more here!

  1. I think it is just trying to keep track of all of stuff that only happens in the summer (i.e. certain sports, camps, pool, vacation . . .) I feel like I am juggling a bunch of balls, and they are all in the air for now, but it is only going to take one little snafu and they will all come tumbling down on my head!

  2. Sticking to a schedule is hardest for us! Knowing that I don’t have to get up as early in the morning, I tend to stay up later at night to get things done. The kids still get up at the same time, no matter when they go to bed – a recipe for disaster!
I’m focusing on keeping their regular bedtime routine – so hard to do in the summer! – and also trying not to let “one more quick” project or chore keep me from getting the sleep I need. Summer activities are so much more enjoyable if we are all well-rested!

  3. With my husband being a youth pastor, our summers are packed with camps and mission trips. This year, he also went to Children’s Camp with our Children’s pastor, so that added 4 days he was gone.

We also help with VBS, and go on a week-long vacation with Shane’s family. This year, we have added T-Ball to our busy schedule.

It seems that we never have time to catch our breath or take a break (even the vacation is not really relaxing)… so, needless to day, I’m glad we homeschool, or we would never have family time! Lol!
