Mabel's Labels' Spice and Canister Labels

Back when I started researching for the kitchen series, I received many offers to review organizational products for the kitchen. As I mentioned before, I’ve committed to only accepting products to review that I actually need or really want to help keep the clutter in our home to a minimum. However, I knew that Tiff from 4under3 was in the process of remodeling her kitchen and looking for ways to make it more organized as well, and so I sent her a list of the products to see if she thought any of them would help her out.

She was excited to try the SpaceScaping® Kitchen Organizing System (from The Clutter Diet), Mabel’s Labels’ Canister and Spice Labels and a Swedish Designs’ pot rack, and we arranged for them to be sent to her.

This week, we did a Q&A about organizing her kitchen and her experience with these three products, and I wanted to share that with you!

What was the biggest unexpected challenge in remodeling your kitchen?
My biggest challenge in our kitchen remodel was putting all our kitchen items back at the end. I felt my kitchen was a bit cluttered before our remodel, and I didn’t want that to be the case afterwards. I had to decide which items I used the most, and place them in convenient spaces around the room. I also had to decide which items I only used sometimes, and store them in a different room. And the hardest part was getting rid of items I thought I used, but really didn’t at all. In the end, my uncluttered kitchen is wonderful. Everything has it’s place and isn’t crowded with a ton of other things. My kitchen items are easy to get to and use.

When it was time to put everything back, how did you decide what should go where?
First, I searched online to find kitchen organizational tips. I didn’t want any extra “stuff” cluttering our new space, and I wanted to know exactly how to store things the right way. After getting general ideas of how to organize a kitchen, I still wasn’t set on where to put things in my kitchen. Then, after learning about the SpaceScaping System, I took their organizing instructions and aligned their kitchen ideas with the spaces I had in mine.

Did you find the SpaceScaping® Kitchen Organizing System made the process of organizing your kitchen easier?
It was great. SpaceScaping had specific ideas of where simple things like potholders, or your baking center should be. And, I never thought to have a Lunch Prep Area that included bags, containers, picnic items, etc. all in one space. For as often as we pack lunches for on the go meals, that tip was a big hit. This system made so much sense to me.

Mabel's Labels' Spice and Canister Labels

Do you use labels for your home organization in general?
Call it the Elementary Education degree in me, but I seem to function better when things are labeled and easy to see. I like opening a cupboard or storage room and seeing neatly stacked containers with easy to read labels. It makes life feel orderly.

What most appealed to you about Mabel’s Labels.
I love how Mabel’s Labels are restickable. When I was organizing our kitchen, I made a trip to a home furnishing store and stocked up on organizational containers. There were a couple of times when I needed to peel a label off and place it on a different container. Mabel’s Labels are a high quality label and don’t tear or rip. I like that. And they’re so darn cute too.

Swedish Designs' Pot Rack

What was the biggest challenge in organizing your pots and pans?
I store our pots and pans in a space under our cooktop in our island. It’s kind of a funny space to work with, being that we have an exhaust vent coil right in the middle of it. Before our remodel, I stacked all my pots and pans on top of each other along with their lids. It was quite the inconvenience when it came to pulling out a certain item and putting items back in a quick and organized way.

Did the Swedish Designs’ pot rack help solve that problem? How?
The Swedish Designs’ pot rack fits our space wonderfully. I store our pans on the bottom and pots on the top. I’m able to use much more vertical space than before. And the material is extremely durable. It’s a perfect match for pots and pans.

Be sure to come back on Sunday for a chance to win your own Swedish Designs’ pot rack and one of two sets of Mabel’s Labels!

  6. I too need to organize my spice cabinet. My spices are falling all over the place ever time I open the cabinet. It is a smaller cabinet but I am trying to fit a more than usual amount of spices in the cabinet.
